"The Antiquity enjoys the privilege of the gods being involved in the emergence of cities to give them an exalted meaning."
(Titus Livius)

Roman civilization presents itself to us as a popular urban culture.

Who were those famous Romans in actuality? Could we even have any perceptions of them? Do  you long for real ancient heroes, battling gladiators or maybe for the story of Pula from the time of the Roman emperors? Do you want to be part of the setting of the rich cultural history of Roman Pula and Roman everyday life?

If so, know that this year's festival will not disappoint. We're here to ensure it all happens.

Although we are still far from the date, again we are preparing an interesting "journey" through the life of ancient times thus realizing a quest into the past. Through intricate planning and hard work around the  programme we hope to surprise you, bring new knowlege and provide good fun. You can expect three excitement- filled days, full of rich events about the history of ancient Pula.

So dear friends, follow us on our official website, where we will keep you up-to-date about everything ...

So, welcome to the 14th Days of Antiquity - Pula Superiorum 2015 from 11.06. - 13.06.2015.

This year at the Cinema Valli, June 12 of 2014, starting at 9:30 a.m. will be the opening ceremony of the exhibition of children's works in which Pula kindergartens participated. The program continues with a film screening from 10:00 to 11:30. The little, imaginative and creative hands of our youngsters with their valuable teachers have developed images on the theme of antiquity. These works show originality and uniqueness in a real educational atmosphere. We invite you to come and see what civilizations from the antiquity look like through artistic expression thanks to: Mickey Mouse, Caillou, Snoopy, Dandelion, Dado, Gingerbreadman and Rainbow's world.

dječji kostimirani defileIn the streets of Pula over the next three days of the festival will be witness to scenes from ancient history. To revive the scenes of the ancient times, we have organized a children's parade where local children become little costumed actors. As we do every year, we successfully co-operated with the our local institutions for training- education. Pula Superiorvm brings a costumed promenade  around our town for the youngest generation, this great and entertaining parade in togas is ment for children who attend kindergarten and, of course, for anyone who wants to spontaneously be a part of it.

The Children's parade will be held on Friday, June 13th, in the Graz City Park at 10:20 a.m.  At the same location in the early hours of the morning, our youngest will be able to visit an international Roman camp, enjoy the children's corner, entertainment, workshops with gladiators. The Birkina association has prepared an interesting and very interactive program associated with our Days of Antiquity.

We invite all lovers of antiquity and those who are soon to  become, to come in great numbers and provide the best support in active learning about the civilization of that time.

fotoTo our great satisfaction again this year the Tourist Board of Pula generously provide support for the 13th days of Antiquity in Pula. At their offices in Pula, an exhibition of photograph under the theme " spectacula Antiqua " will be on display .

The author Tanja Savic Draškić in her photographs carefully shows selected moments in which she invested a lot of effort to faithfully depict the past . Various staged moments record passionate elements of one gladiator's fights.

Is there such a thing such as  modern gladiators?

Fighters sparring with swords and other weapons do not exist today . However , Roman gladiators have become very popular figures in modern culture , these ancient warriors are very often topic of conversation . Combatting , dodging and parrying are a great source of entertainment for the audience . This exhibition provides a detailed overview of armed men in the arena battling against each other . There is no doubt that these images will evoke strong feelings to visitors of the exihibition, depicting  a moment of a gladiator fight that depends on the mercy of the audience and Caesar .

A blend of cultures and traditions woven together creating a fabric of true magic resulting in these photographs , a true ancient delight. These graphic representations of the ancient combat is a great introduction to the spectacle of gladiators, this year yet again live in the arena .

Intentionally immersing one's self in history, through this exibition by an experienced and important author is an exceptional experience for some real insight into one of the most ancient sports. Thumbs up for these photographs and long live the gladiators .

The exhibition is open  daily from 5th of  June to the 24th of June 2014 . Of the 12 photos visitors will definetly be able to choose their winner.
